In this day and age, it’s imperative that consumers and businesses find ways to alleviate the stress on our environment. Fortunately, manufacturers are starting to provide us (pool company owners) with alternatives and solutions to help provide energy-efficient options for our consumers.

Love Pool Care wants to be at the forefront in offering “eco-friendly” equipment and services to each of our clients. Below is a list of ways in which we’re trying to make this happen…

Salt Systems. These systems eliminate the need to handle and implement chlorine tablets and calcium-based oxidizers into the water. Not only do salt systems save on the purchase of expensive chlorine, but also remove hazardous handling of the product.

In addition, salt systems help remove the need to drain your pool as often (as compared to traditional chlorine-based pools). No calcium or is being added to the water. And, salt systems produce a non-stabilized form of chlorine… which eliminates the constant need to drain pools due to high stabilizer and calcium levels.

Variable Speed Pumps. These new pumps accomplish multiple functions that effectively help the environment and your pool. The motors are designed to be adjustable (3050 speeds) according to your pool water turnover requirements, while operating at less energy. Savings can be expected upwards from 30%-90%.

In addition, the pumps are QUIET. Operating at lower speeds, pump noise is virtually undetectable.

With proper water turnover, pools require fewer chemicals. In addition, the pumps can be adjusted (manually or automatically) to alleviate undue stress on filtration media.

Low NOx Gas Heaters. Low NOx heaters meet all clean air standards, and are now required in California and Texas. Love Pool Care only installs Low NOx heaters, with efficiency of at least 83%. Quicker heating equals less energy used.

What is NOx? NOx is one of the main ingredients involved in the formation of ground-level ozone, which can trigger serious respiratory problems.

New-Style D.E. Filters. D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) filters have been around a long time. However, most consumers associate these filters with complicated internal components. This is no longer the case. These new D.E. filters combine the quality of D.E. filtration using cartridge filter elements. This has enabled D.E. filters to provide larger filter capacity with extreme ease of disassemble and cleaning.

Due to the increase of filter capacity, there are longer period between cleanings (or backwashing)… which ends up saving water. In addition, the finer filtering allows for less chemical use and more enjoyable water.

Sand filters filter down to about 30-40 microns. D.E. filters filter down to 2-3 microns.
